Our attorneys are members of the Ohio State Bar Association and Columbus Bar Association, are able to practice before the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and Northern District of Ohio, and are active members of the Community Associations Institute — a national education and advocacy group concerned with all aspects of common interest communities.
Ms. Strohm is a partner with the firm and has been practicing community association law since 2004. Robin has extensive experience in all aspects of community association representation and counsel.
Robin is a fellow with the College of Community Associations Lawyers (CCAL). Of the many thousands of association attorneys nationwide, fewer than 200 have been accepted into CCAL. CCAL Fellows are considered to be leaders within the field of community association law and among the most respected community association attorneys nationwide. Robin is the current chair of CAI’s Ohio Legislative Action Committee (CAI-Ohio LAC), which focuses on implementing changes in the Ohio Legislature concerning community associations. She is two-time past president of the CAI Central Ohio Chapter board of directors. She has spoken for the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), the Columbus Bar Association (CBA), and nationally for CAI on various legal topics related to drafting governing documents for community associations, condominium leasing restrictions, and gun control issues affecting community associations. She has also presented on multiple occasions at the national CAI Law Conference. She has published articles for the CBA’s Lawyer’s Quarterly magazine and participates in video and written presentations for HOALeaders.com.
Mr. Barnes has been practicing law since 2008 and is a partner with the firm. He has extensive experience in civil litigation, particularly with community associations, which includes association enforcement matters, construction defect litigation, insurance coverage disputes, contract disputes, correcting errors in governing documents, and governance issues. He also has experience in commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes. He has successfully litigated cases at trial and appellate courts throughout Ohio.
Nick often presents on community association matters, whether for professional organizations, management companies, or clients wanting to know more about specific legal issues. Nick has presented on community association law for The Supreme Court of Ohio Judicial College, Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, and Cleveland Bar Association. In January 2025, Nick presented at the Community Associations Institute Law Seminar in San Antonio, for which his presentation group’s manuscript—titled “50 Shades of Ethical Gray”— was awarded the prestigious Best Manuscript Award.
Nick was recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2019, 2020 and 2022. Nick has twice served as the president of the Central Ohio Chapter of CAI and served as a member of its Board of Directors for 6 years.
Mr. Kanitz has been practicing law since 2009 and is a partner with the firm. His particular focus is on providing support and counsel related to community associations across the wide variety of issues these clients face. As part of his practice, Mr. Kanitz has gained extensive experience in civil litigation, including creditor’s rights matters, landlord/tenant disputes, zoning and land use issues affecting community associations, and many others. Mr. Kanitz has extensive experience in collections and bankruptcy matters, and prior to joining the firm, he has represented major lending institutions in more than sixty Ohio counties, which makes him particularly well-suited for community association counsel and litigation related to collections. Mr. Kanitz has successfully litigated cases with multiple Ohio District Courts of Appeals. He is a past president of the Central Ohio Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute) and has been a longstanding member of CAI. Mr. Kanitz is a graduate of the Ohio State Moritz College of Law and received both a master’s and bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.
Mr. Terman has been practicing since 2008 with experience in many areas of law including civil litigation, creditors’ rights, landlord/tenant, and community association law. Mr. Terman has extensive experience in bankruptcy and collection matters, and enforcement matters related to community associations. Mr. Terman is also admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. Terman is a member of Central Ohio Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute). Mr. Terman is a graduate of the Ohio State Moritz College of Law and received his bachelor's degree
from The Ohio State University.
Ms. Sutter has dedicated her entire career to representing community associations in Indiana and Ohio for over twenty years. Kim has extensive experience in all aspects of community association representation, including corporate governance, document drafting, enforcement, and collections.
Kim is an active member of the CAI Central Indiana Chapter and has served on the board. She was a two-time President of the Chapter. Kim is a Fellow in the College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL), and is one of three current Indiana attorneys admitted to this prestigious national organization. Of the many thousands of association attorneys nationwide, fewer than 200 have been accepted into CCAL. CCAL Fellows are considered leaders within the field of community association law and among the most respected community association attorneys nationwide. Kim currently serves on the Membership Committee for CCAL, evaluating other community association attorneys for admission.
In 2017, Kim was selected as a speaker at the Community Associations Institute National Law Seminar. In both 2018 and 2020, Kim co-presented a continuing legal education seminar on Community Associations in Indiana with the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum. Kim regularly presents education seminars and webinars for board members to promote education on community association issues.
Mr. Chandler has been practicing law since 2007 and has devoted the entirety of his legal career to serving Indiana homeowners associations and condominium associations. Greg has extensive experience as corporate counsel with assisting in an array of legal capacities, including document drafting and covenant amendments, advising boards on governance issues, leading and speaking at membership meetings, legal document interpretation, review and drafting of contracts, enforcement of covenants and litigation, and collection of assessments. In 2018, Greg became just the third Indiana attorney to be inducted as a Fellow in the Community Associations Institute (CAI) College of Community Association Lawyers (CCAL). Of the many thousands of association attorneys nationwide, fewer than 200 have been accepted into CCAL. CCAL Fellows are considered to be leaders within the field of community association law and among the most respected community association attorneys nationwide. Greg has actively been involved in the CAI Indiana Chapter and is currently serving as the president of the board for the Indiana Chapter. In 2023, Greg was honored with the “Tanner Award” for his contributions to CAI education and HOA leadership. The Tanner Award was created to recognize volunteers in the association industry in honor of Scott and Carole Tanner, who were pioneers in the field of Indiana community association law.
Ms. Haughey joins the firm with a robust background in civil litigation and unique insight into the judicial system. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Haughey had the honor to serve as the Staff Attorney for Judge Kim J. Brown on the Franklin County Common Pleas Court, General Division, where she managed the civil docket in Ohio’s largest county and drafted judicial decisions on wide-ranging legal issues, including community association disputes. This “behind-the-bench” experience allows her to provide clients with a distinct perspective on the judicial process.
Recognized for her excellence early in her career, Ms. Haughey was named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2022, a distinction reserved for only 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state.
Ms. Haughey received her bachelor’s degree from Washington and Jefferson College and her Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School, where she was a member of Moot Court and Order of Barristers. Admitted to practice in Ohio, Ms. Haughey focusses her practice on providing boards with strategic, result-oriented counsel that anticipates the complexities of boththe boardroom and the courtroom. Ms. Haughey is a member of the Central Ohio Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute), the Columbus Bar Association, and the Ohio State Bar Association.
Mr. Skie was admitted to the Ohio Bar to practice law in November 2025. Mr. Skie received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Dayton and his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo, where he was a member of the University’s Civil Advocacy Clinic. Before joining the firm, Mr. Skie was employed as a law clerk where he gained experience in landlord/tenant issues, real estate transactions, and civil litigation. Mr. Skie is a member of the Central Ohio Chapter of CAI (Community Association Institute), the Columbus Bar Association, and the Ohio State Bar Association.
